Dan Effland Group: View Dan Effland Group's EPK

This group includes some very experienced and talented musicians with Jeb Bishop on trombone, Mark Zigler on bass, and Tim Daisy on drums. We play predominately my own compositions and I have to say I love the way these guys play my tunes! They bring a sense of openness and creativity to the music and I am continually surprised and excited by their approach to the different compositions. We have recently finished our first CD entitle Last Call which should be released early in 2008.

Dan Effland Trio :

A guitar/bass/drums trio focused on exploring the all-important blues feeling in jazz. We play primarily compositions from the 50's and 60's by Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Smith, Hank Mobley and others. We have just begun a residency as part of the Velvet Lounge's "Blue Monday" series.

Rose Colella Group with Dan Effland:

This group varies in size and instrumentation, but the nucleus is a very tight vocal-guitar. We simply like great songs and we focus primarily on the Great American Songbook and some of the great composers from Brazil, including Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Djavan, and others.

Trio Departure:

A group that started out as the brain-child of drummer Corey Radford has gone through a variety of changes and has emerged as unique sounding band.  The current group, which consists of Todd Boyce on sax, Andre Beasley on drums, and myself on guitar, plays mostly original tunes and through those vehicles has slowly developed its own approach to an instrumentation that while unusual, has a few strong precedents in jazz.

Mandy and the Bluegrass Bandits

This is a really fun band led by vocalist Amanda Crumley and it features her “newgrass” compositions.  There are some great players in it including Jake Vinsel on bass, Jess Birch on drums, Scott Tipping on guitar, the Crumlets background singers, and others.  Look out for us in ’08!
